Obituary for Carrol Lee Lawhorn

Carrol Lee Lawhorn was born at home in Casey County, Kentucky on May 24, 1936 to Charles and Stella (Hatter) Lawhorn. He met Peggy Blankenship in 8th grade. They married December 27, 1955 while attending Transylvania University.

Graduating with a degree in mathematics, he worked for MIT, PanAm, IBM, the Idaho Department of Education, and founded Student Loan Fund of Idaho and Adiuvo. Carrol Lee and Peggy had two children, Tim Lawhorn and Kay Jones.

They moved to the Treasure Valley in the fall of 1971. They were active members of the Ontario First Christian Church. Lovingly called “Pappy” by his 5 grandchildren and their classmates, he attended their music and sports events, supported cake sales, mission trip and church camp fundraisers; and treated them to a few special vacations.

He is survived by his older brother John Lyman Lawhorn of Lynchburg, Virginia; his two aforementioned children; his five grandchildren: Rhett Jones of Middleton, Clark Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dean Jones of New Plymouth, Beth Schmidt of Payette, Trent Jones of New Plymouth and nine great grandchildren.

He died peacefully in his sleep on September 5, 2022 and will be laid to rest in Casey County, Kentucky.
